Akilah Humphrey is the Emergency Management Specialist at Healthcare Ready. She leads the organizations emergency management activities, including data collection, threat assessment/monitoring, preparing and executing trainings and exercises with internal and external partners, and managing response activities. Akilah serves as a subject matter expert for key research projects and on panels and committees on behalf of HcR. Akilah also manages and fosters relationships with key stakeholders from public, private, and Non-Profit organizations in relation to preparedness and response.
Akilah previously worked as a contractor supporting both FEMA Regions 2 and 3. As part of the Region 2 team, Akilah traveled to the U.S Virgin Islands, where she participated in training workshops. As part of the Region 3 team, she spearheaded the Equity Considerations portion of the response plan, which included Health Equity and Climate Adaptation. Before her role as an Emergency Manager, she worked as a Social Worker in New York City.
Akilah received a Master of Public Administration in Emergency Disaster Management from Metropolitan College of New York and holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work form the City University of New York, Lehman College.
In her free time, she likes watching House Hunters’ marathons, singing and exploring her environment.
