Resources for Manufacturers: COVID-19 Pandemic

Notes: Some of these resources are specifically aimed at pandemic influenza, but many of the same principles apply to COVID-19.

Disinfection and Infection Prevention and Control

Additionally, our partners shared the following disinfection practices that have  been implemented during the COVID-19 response:

  • Continue to emphasize the need for proper hand washing and personal hygiene at the start of all shifts.
  • Make hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes available in office, breakroom, and equipment areas.
  • Reduce facility access to essential personnel only.
  • Prop any interior doors open to eliminate touch on doors that don’t jeopardize compliance posture.
  • Perform wide-area cleaning of common areas 2x-3x day using an EPA-approved disinfectant.
Workforce Protection

Additionally, our partners shared the following practices to enhance workforce protection during the COVID-19 response:

  • Associates that are coughing, sneezing, experiencing body aches, and malaise should NOT report to work.
  • Eliminate completely shift overlap interaction at timeclock and entrance/exit locations
  • Social distancing should be encouraged to include break rooms.  Absolutely no grouping together for breaks / lunch inside common areas.

  • Reduce distribution center access to essential warehouse and support personnel only.
  • Prop any interior doors open to eliminate touch on doors that don’t jeopardize compliance posture.
  • Perform wide-area cleaning of common areas 2x-3x day using an EPA-approved disinfectant.
  • Whenever possible, use single-use equipment and limit the use of equipment sharing.
  • Ensure personnel are disinfecting phones, computer screens, keyboards, mice, and other personal items.

  • Minimize face-to-face interaction with visitors and third party contractors.
  • Associates that are coughing, sneezing, experiencing body aches, and malaise should NOT report to work.
  • Eliminate completely shift overlap interaction at timeclock and entrance/exit locations
  • Social distancing should be encouraged to include break rooms.  Absolutely no grouping together for breaks / lunch inside common areas.
  • It is recommended to close off areas used by an ill person or wait as long as practical before beginning cleaning and disinfection to minimize potential exposure.
