The field of disaster management is well-positioned to be equity driven. Yet, with few exceptions, the emergency management field has not been known to center equity. While the topic has recently grown more popular, there is the space and the need for leadership on the issue. Healthcare Ready is positioned to lead particularly at this intersection of emergency management and health, recognizing that the impact of crisis on health outcomes creates a unique intersection of disaster inequities and health inequities.
