Response
Healthcare Ready is currently ENGAGED for the Wildfires in California and its projected path to prepare for the potential impacts on healthcare access, supply chain resilience, and community health services.
Healthcare Ready's Releases on CA Wildfires
Overview
- As of January 8, a brush fire, that started in the Pacific Palisades on January 7, has now burned 2,925 acres and counting – containment of the Palisades Fire is at 0%.
- This is particularly concerning because the southern region of California is currently under a red flag warning which means that conditions are ideal for the rapid spread of wildfire. Those areas include Malibu Coast, Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley, and more.
- 60 MPH wind gusts are expected to continue in those areas through Thursday.
- On January 7, Governor Newsom proclaimed a state of emergency due to the Palisades Fire and a Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) was secured to ensure the availability of essential resources to suppress the wildfire.
States Resources for CA Wildfires

Healthcare Ready's Role during the CA Wildfires
Healthcare Ready works to monitor and evaluate the situation around the damage and provide analysis of its implications. We aim to provide information across sectors to supply information to all parties involved or impacted. Healthcare Ready is focusing efforts on highlighting challenges and supporting solutions to these challenges from the damages.
A part of monitoring during this time is through Rx Open. Rx Open provides information on the operating status of healthcare facilities in areas impacted by a disaster. When the map is active for an event, users can use the Facilities map to search for individual facility status such as pharmacies, community health centers, and dialysis centers.
